Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson - born Jacqueline Luesby to Chris Watson and Jacqueline Luesby, two British lawyers - was born August 8, 1989, in Paris. When she moved to Oxfordshire around the age of five, she enrolled in The Dragon School. Emma decided to be an actor by the age of six. Through the years she was enrolled in the Oxford branch Stagecoach Theatre Arts part-time school. She learned to sing as well as dancing, and also acting. As part of a school production and a Stagecoach Production, Emma was her role as lead actress at 10 and performed. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) the movie adaptation of J.K. Rowling's bestselling British novel began casting in 1999. Casting agents found Emma by way of her Oxford theater teacher. David Heyman told Emma along with Rupert Grint, Daniel Radcliffe after having 8 consecutive auditions. Emma's first cinematic appearance was with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in the year 2001. It broke all records in opening-day sales and opening-weekend takings and became the top-grossing movie of the year 2001. Critics have praised both the film and the performance by three young actors. The Daily Telegraph praised Emma for her outstanding performance. Emma was awarded five nominations for her outstanding performance.
